“Truly enjoyable! I swear, I’m not saying this just to be nice.”

— My mom’s friend

Mele Kiaora is a young Omoan girl whose dream is to become a great, famous pirate. However, her dreams are temporarily put on hold as her crew are put on extended shore leave on a quaint island just outside of the borders of the Kueimar Union. Together with her teacher, Ian Patch, and her friends, Roy Alfredsson and Samantha van Lucette, she is now left to explore the island and its local folklore until her ship is repaired.

Down by the Sea is a YA/Middle-Grade novel that I wrote when I was 17. Frankly, I don’t think it’s the greatest, and I’m embarrassed that it exists. No 17-year-old has ever written anything good. But, it’s something I did, and I’m learning not to be so damn ashamed of myself all the time.
