Video Essays

A Lazy Projector

A short essay I made in a day about another personal isolation experience in lock-down. Man, these are just rolling off the cuff, aren’t they? Anyways, this won another weekend film challenge not to brag

Nebulousness

A short mockumentary/essay I made about my personal isolation experience in lock-down. This one won the weekend film challenge! Somehow. I’m not complaining, though.

Whistle While you Work

A short documentary about a hobby of mine that I entered into the weekend film challenge. It got second place, which is nice, because it deserved it!

Sometimes, Prompts are Bad (Bad)

A protest video I made in opposition to a fairly restrictive prompt for a weekend film challenge. This video was made adhering to the standards of the prompt and was made to demonstrate via counterpoint that it was stupidly difficult to make something worthwhile.

Made in 6 hours during the weekend film challenge. Got second place. It really shouldn’t have.

Sometimes, Prompts Are Bad (Good)

The second protest video I made in opposition to a fairly restrictive prompt for a weekend film challenge. This video was made with no regard to the challenge’s standards and was made to show how much creative opportunity for quality was outright disallowed because of the prompt’s limitations.

Made in 15 hours during the weekend film challenge. It didn’t get anything because it was illegal.

Bla bla bla

A short music video I put together using footage from the road trip my little brother and I took up to Seattle over the summer. Technically, this makes it a documentary, so I’m PUTTING IT HERE! Made for “Watch This Space,” a local art exhibition run by some University friends of mine.

l(a

A video essay about loneliness. One of the challenges of living in two places is that every time you come back to either, there are fewer people there than there were before. Made in 15 hours for “Doc in a Day,” a local challenge run by some University friends of mine.

Schrödinger’s Aunt

A video essay about a childhood trauma and an outdated model of quantum physics. Made in 11 hours for “Doc in a Day,” a local challenge run by some University friends of mine.

Anti-Hierarchichal Prescriptivism

The first essay in a series I made about grammar in the modern age. Made in 13 hours for “Doc in a Day,” a local challenge run by some University friends of mine.

Hierarchichal Prepictivism

The second essay in my series about modern colloqiual grammar. Though, this one is a bit more of an anathema than the last.

🤙

The final essay in my series about internet grammar. I compare the usage of emojis to another language I “Speak,” sign language.

It’s a Little Creepy

An unstructured video I made in a few hours about how easy it is to forge screenshots.

Documentaries

From a Place of Uncertainty?

A short documentary that I re-cut from the original, “From a Place of Uncertainty,” by my colleague Ayla Ash. I wanted to experiment with how the stories told by the letter writers could be re-interpreted through the lens of different creeds of people (Atheists and Theists alike). It’s about a church.

Gradus Ad Parnassum

A short advertisement documentary made for the Gradus ad Parnassum orchestra in Dublin, California. Directed by myself and Christien Skousen, edited by myself.

Crow Eats Man: The Documentary

A mockumentary made about a friend’s high school band. I helped to edit and write it, and starred in it.

DJ Julio

A short documentary about a local DJ in the San Francisco Bay area. I edited this and wrote some of the questions asked.

Video Games Essay 2

Another short video essay that I did, for a weekend film challenge. Please don’t ask me what was up with my voice, I have no idea what was going on.

It’s also about computer games
